No decision yet on education measures

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao government announced on Sunday that no decision has yet been made regarding cutbacks in the education sector or the possible reduction of the number of teachers.

In recent days, several posts have appeared on social media saying that there will be a major budget cut. According to the government, that is far too premature. The government emphasizes that they are still in talks about this proposed measure.

The government will consult with the school boards and teachers' union SITEK about the situation in education in the near future. A team of experts has also been set up to analyze the entire education sector on the island and how it could be more cost-efficient.
