WILLEMSTAD - The Association for Protestant Christian Education (VPCO) will continue implementing innovations in education in the coming school year. Interim director of VPCO, Bert Velthuizen indicated.
Velthuizen also aims to find solutions for the annual shortage of teachers. According to him, filling all vacancies each year is a challenge, but through discussions with the ministry, they hope to create more incentives to attract teachers and interest more students in the LOFO program. This year, all classes are filled according to projections, in line with staffing and available resources.
VPCO schools are participating in the digitization project initiated by the Ministry of Education and are also investing in their own digitalization efforts. For the 2024-2025 school year, VPCO is setting new policy frameworks and collaborating with school teams on the plans.
Innovations such as digitalization, a positive climate, and the EDI program are being further developed. The EDI model includes structured teaching of material, interactive work, and group assignments, followed by individual tasks with teacher guidance. Additionally, teachers receive training in 'Teach Like a Champion' to learn new didactic methods.
