New Curaçao Parliament Sworn In: MFK Holds Majority, Fergino Brownbill Becomes Youngest Speaker

WILLEMSTAD The 21 elected members of Curaçao’s Parliament were officially sworn in today at 11:00 a.m. during a formal ceremony at the Governor’s Palace. The new Parliament will represent the people of Curaçao for the next four years.

With 13 of the 21 seats, the Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) holds an absolute majority in the legislature. The party’s dominance was reflected not only in the election results but also in key appointments. At just 29 years old, MFK member Fergino Brownbill was appointed Speaker of Parliament, making him the youngest to ever hold that position in Curaçao’s political history. Fellow party member Ramon Yung was named Vice-Speaker.

As MFK also provides all the ministers in the newly installed government, the party's influence in Parliament is marked by a mix of experienced figures and new faces.
