New arrangement for boat owners in Caracas Bay fishing port

WILLEMSTAD - Boat owners will soon have to pay for a designated berth at the fishing port of Caracas Bay. Minister of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN) Dorothy Pietersz-Janga recently held consultations with the boat owners.

The ministry has introduced a number of measures to put things in order. According to GMN, there is no more space for boats available. During the consultation with Pietersz-Janga, the boat owners were able to put forward their vision of the new arrangement.

To avoid further crowds, all boat owners are assigned a fixed place and a fee must be paid to use the facilities. Commercial boats will pay a different rate. In addition, boat owners will soon also have to pay to pick up people from the harbor. Other users of the Caracasbaai receive a badge after they register.
