More trouble for embattled local airline

WILLEMSTAD - InselAir loses the Air Operator Certificate (AOC). This means a new damper for the airline that has had turbulent years behind it.

InterCaribbean

The chance of the airline's current status has been decreasing in recent times, in particular because the announced strategic partner InterCaribbean Airways decided to abandon a partial acquisition. The company did not have the right financial papers to get the planned 49 percent in shares.

AOC

The next chapter for InselAir is now being introduced by ending the AOC. The Curacao Civil Aviation Authority (CCAA) does not want to extend the existing license. This makes it difficult for InselAir to keep the operation running. Airlines normally need an AOC to carry out passenger flights.

Bankrupt

InselAir has been in financial trouble for years. Passengers are regularly bothered by the cancellations and delays. If it fails to present a cost-effective plan of action, the postponement of payment will lapse, and the company will be declared bankrupt.
