Ministry of GMN to place waste containers in neighborhoods and opts for a new waste approach

WILLEMSTAD - The Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN) has adopted a new approach aimed at raising awareness about waste management among the public. Additionally, large waste containers will be placed in neighborhoods, the ministry announced Wednesday in a press release.

The waste containers will be managed by the government, which will ensure that the waste is transported to landfills. As part of this new approach, discussions and consultations will first be held with residents to facilitate more targeted actions afterward, according to the GMN ministry. The ministry, along with experts, plans to visit six areas, with the first two already confirmed: the Janwe Neighborhood Center and the Soto Neighborhood Center.

The ministry and experts will meet on September 10 at 7:00 PM at the Janwe Neighborhood Center and on September 24 at 7:00 PM at the Soto Neighborhood Center.

“With this new approach, the government will gain a better understanding of what works and what doesn’t in the campaign to keep Curaçao clean and raise community awareness,” the GMN ministry stated.
