Ministry of Education finalizes plans for the opening of schools and the final examination process

WILLEMSTAD - Various departments of the Ministry of Education, in particular the Expertise Center for Tests and Exams, the Education Inspectorate and the Education and Science Sector, are working in close cooperation with the educational partners to finalize a plan for a responsible reopening of the schools and the final exam process. On Tuesday 24 March, confirmation came from the Netherlands that all central final exams would be discontinued. Because our education system has strong ties with that of the Netherlands, this will undoubtedly have an impact on Curaçao students. It is inevitable that coordination will have to take place, so that the connection with higher education in the Netherlands is guaranteed. To this end, the Ministry of Education, Culture, Science and Sport is already in contact with the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) in the Netherlands, so that structured coordination is created for the benefit of our students.

The planning for continuing education includes the completion of certain subjects, opportunities to take tests or exams, the completion of internships and connection to higher education. All this, of course, taking into account the most recent developments regarding the coronavirus in Curaçao. In the coming days, coordination will take place with the school boards, unions and officials of the Ministry of Education, so that concrete proposals will be made that can be presented no later than the end of this week.
