Minister Yesilgöz encourages the LGBTI community of Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD – During her first working visit to the Caribbean part of the Kingdom of Curaçao, Minister Dilan Yeşilgöz of Justice and Security took a walk through Otrabanda with Nelly Rosa and Marlon Reina to hear about the history and challenges of the LGBTI community on the island.

“Steps are being taken in that area. However, you may still encounter resistance. From family, at work, or in the neighborhood. These brave warriors won't let themselves be pushed into the closet. Much respect for the passion with which they fight against inequality," the minister tweeted.

Last month it was announced that the government of Curaçao will appeal against the court's ruling that the government is acting in violation of its own legislation by not allowing marriage between same-sex couples.
