Minister stops FKP financial director appointment

WILLEMSTAD - Minister Charles Cooper of Traffic, Transport and Spatial Planning is blocking the appointment of the new financial director of Social Housing Foundation (FKP). The housing association has had no financial director for years and has been behind in submitting the annual figures. This is what chairman of the trade union SEBI Edward Sint Jacobs reported.

According to SEBI, FKP only has a general manager, without financial expertise. In 2018, FKP started a recruitment and selection procedure for a financial director. A suitable candidate was found, but he withdrew from the procedure due to personal circumstances.

“The union and the government are concerned about the association's annual figures,” said Sint Jacobs. In 2017, the FKP was assigned a representative of the Central Bank who has stopped all loans from Fundashon Fiansa Popular (FFP).

In the meantime, a new candidate for the position of financial director has been found. A letter was sent to the minister two months ago. Cooper has asked several questions which, according to Sint Jacobs, have all been answered.

To date, the minister has refused to sign for the new financial director.
