Minister Javier Silvania Expresses Strong Support for MFK Leader Gilmar Pisas

WILLEMSTAD – Outgoing Minister Javier Silvania of the MFK party has openly expressed his support for party leader and outgoing Prime Minister Gilmar Pisas. In an interview with Radio Hoyer on Monday, Silvania made it clear that he has no ambition to take over the role of prime minister and intends to continue in his current ministerial positions—Finance and Public Health, Environment, and Nature.

Silvania’s remarks come in response to speculation that arose after he secured significantly more votes than Pisas in last Friday’s elections. Silvania received over 18,000 votes, while Pisas garnered just over 11,000. This outcome fueled rumors that Silvania might seek the position of prime minister. However, he firmly denied these claims, describing himself as a loyal and grateful supporter of Pisas. He emphasized that Pisas has always backed him and, in return, he remains committed to standing by his leader.

During the interview, Silvania acknowledged that he has faced multiple personal attacks over the past four years, but Pisas has consistently supported him. He stated that his loyalty is driven by gratitude and that he has personally supported all candidates within MFK, thanking them for their dedication to the party. He reiterated that his focus remains on serving the people and continuing his current work as a minister.

According to Silvania, MFK’s electoral success was primarily due to the party’s ability to convince the public of its vision. He stressed that winning votes is central to politics and that good governance requires implementing policies that benefit society. He concluded by stating that holding ministerial or parliamentary positions is ultimately about serving the community.
