WILLEMSTAD – In a notable change for the upcoming March 21 parliamentary elections, Mihó Kòrsou (MK) has chosen pink as its official campaign color. The announcement was made during a public session of the Electoral Council (ER), where the colors and ballot numbers of all eight participating parties were revealed. Unlike MK, the other seven parties will keep their traditional colors.
Electoral Council chairperson Richeline Martina-Joe explained that parties were allowed to submit their preferred colors in writing before the official selection. MK leader Gilbert Ricardo reinforced his party’s choice by appearing at the event in a pink shirt. Other key political figures present included Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas representing Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK), Suzy Camelia-Römer of MAN-PIN, and Rennox Calmes from Trabou Pa Kòrsou (TPK).
Pink in Curaçao’s Political History
The color pink is not new to Curaçao’s political landscape. Partido Laboral Krusada Popular (PLKP) campaigned in pink for years before disappearing from the political scene in 2007. More recently, in the 2019 elections, Movementu Progresivo (MP) adopted a magenta-colored campaign but failed to secure a seat.
Ballot Numbers and Party Colors
During the lottery draw, MFK was assigned ballot number 1, while MK received number 2, making it the first party on the list after the ruling party. The remaining numbers were distributed as follows:
PAR – Number 3
Movementu Kousa Promé – Number 4
MAN-PIN – Number 5
KEM – Number 6
PNP – Number 7
Trabou Pa Kòrsou (TPK) – Number 8
Apart from MK’s switch to pink, all other parties retained their traditional colors:
MFK – White
PNP – Green
PAR – Yellow
MAN-PIN – Blue
Trabou Pa Kòrsou (TPK) – Brown
KEM – Gold
Movementu Kousa Promé – Gray
With the ballot numbers and campaign colors now set, all participating parties can finalize their preparations as the election race heats up in the coming weeks.
