MFK Tasked with Forming Curaçao’s Next Government

WILLEMSTAD – Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) has been granted the mandate to nominate a candidate to lead the government formation process. Governor Lucille George-Wout made this decision after consulting with the leaders of political parties that secured at least one seat in last Friday’s parliamentary elections.

Once MFK announces its candidate, acting Vice Chairman of the Advisory Council, Jeff Sybesma—standing in for the absent Liza Dindial—will initiate both a judicial and national security investigation into the nominee. These investigations are mandatory under the National Ordinance on Integrity for (Candidate) Ministers.

If the candidate successfully passes these screenings, the governor will officially appoint the formateur, who will then be tasked with assembling the new government.
