Members of Parliament reject proposal to reduce their salaries

WILLEMSTAD - A motion to cut the salaries of Members of Parliament by 10 percent did not make it yesterday. Only the coalition party MAN was in favor, but the faction also submitted the motion. The blue party believes that the parliament must send a good signal to the community that it is willing to sacrifice to help Curaçao get out of this financial situation.

 

A motion to voluntarily surrender a 10 percent salary was accepted. The clerk has also been instructed to see whether the total costs of parliament can be reduced by 10 percent.
