Medical specialists: "Curaçao pays too much for healthcare"

WILLEMSTAD - According to the Association of Medical Specialists Curaçao (VMSC), the Curaçao government is trying to "destroy" freely established specialists. The association states this in response to the government's austerity plans in the medical sector.

During a press conference last week, Minister of Health, Nature, and the Environment Zita Jesus-Leito indicated that the government should cut back.

But according to the association, it is incomprehensible that as a result the government is constantly coming up with new measures against specialists who are not located in the Curaçao Medical Center (CMC).

Because the government opposes the established specialists - as recently with the introduction of a production ceiling for specialists outside the CMC - the costs in healthcare are getting higher and higher. While the population gets less and less in return, according to the VMSC.
