Marnix school starts with English lessons in group 1

WILLEMSTAD - This year, the Marnix school started the Early Foreign Language Education (VVTO) program in primary education. The first English lesson was recently given in group 1.

Group 1 students are taught in English twice a week. Until now, only the students of groups 7 and 8 had English lessons every week. The Association for Protestant Christian Education (VPCO) wants to give more space to multilingualism within its schools. The association wants all students to develop well in Papiamento, Dutch and English.

The lessons in English in group 1 are in line with the themes of the class and are developed by teachers and policymakers. Much use is made of supporting videos and word cards.

After this school year, the English lesson will also be offered in group 2. In addition, the lessons will soon also be offered at the Dr. Albert Schweitzer school.
