WILLEMSTAD – The political party MAN-PIN has unveiled an innovative political program centered on active citizen participation and transparent governance. The party envisions governance as a continuous process in which citizens can contribute actively to shaping policies without fear of retaliation. Their goal is a dynamic society where power is shared with the community for collective well-being and sustainable development.
To achieve this vision, MAN-PIN has proposed concrete measures that encourage active public involvement in legislation and policymaking, with special attention to marginalized groups. One of the key initiatives is the organization of a National Summit at the beginning of the governing period, bringing together citizens, experts, and stakeholders to establish a shared vision and priorities for Curaçao. This initiative aims to ensure direct citizen engagement in the country’s decision-making process.
Additionally, MAN-PIN plans to introduce neighborhood councils through legislation, ensuring long-term citizen participation in addressing local issues. The government will allocate sufficient financial resources to make participatory processes accessible to all community organizations.
Strengthening Government Accountability
Communication with the public is a fundamental right, according to MAN-PIN. The party pledges to put an end to the current government’s tendency to avoid parliamentary accountability. A proposed law would require the government to report to Parliament within a specified timeframe, including the publication of management documents and public parliamentary debates on key issues. Furthermore, the party will explore constitutional mechanisms to legally bind government officials to accountability measures, including requiring parliamentary approval for expenditures beyond a certain threshold before funds can be used.
Weekly Press Conferences and Improved Public Communication
Under a MAN-PIN-led government, the Council of Ministers will hold weekly press conferences to ensure transparency and keep the public informed. The government also aims to strengthen public information services and guarantee timely communication with citizens.
Through these proposals, MAN-PIN sends a clear message: Curaçao needs a political culture where the voice of the people is central. By enhancing participation, integrity, and transparency, the party aims to build a stronger and fairer society where citizens are not mere spectators but active participants in shaping their future and that of the nation.
