WILLEMSTAD - Red Cross Curaçao extends its gratitude to the community of Curaçao for the support demonstrated throughout the month of collection by the organization. Especially on May 28th at Brionplein, where many people personally came to make their donations, witnessing highly interesting demonstrations carried out by our dedicated Red Cross volunteers. Red Cross Curaçao has managed to raise 173,698.68 guilders through the collection activities during the month of May, culminating with the Radio/Telethon. The organization is immensely thankful to the contributing community.
As indicated during the collection month, the primary goal is to generate sufficient funds to complete the construction of the Red Cross building in Suffisant. The building, which was destroyed in a devastating fire on May 28, 2020, was 40 years old, and now, after the ferocious blaze, Red Cross Curaçao needs to construct a new building that will serve the current and future needs. The new building must also comply with today's requirements.
A special thanks goes to Maduro & Curiel's Bank for their incredibly generous donation. A substantial and worthy sum, befitting of MCB, to contribute to the cause of Red Cross Curaçao. At the same time, we extend our thanks to every company, institution, and foundation that has made their contribution. We express our gratitude to each person who donated even a single florin, despite their own potentially delicate situation. Red Cross Curaçao thanks you because your donation has a positive impact on the construction work taking place in Suffisant.
Red Cross volunteers at Brionplein became emotional when a citizen approached and handed over a donation of 500 guilders for Red Cross Curaçao. The citizen explained that during the Covid pandemic, when the lockdown hit, they were left with nothing for themselves and their family. They reached out to Red Cross Curaçao for assistance, and Red Cross Curaçao responded by providing the help they needed to survive. The citizen spoke from the heart to explain what Red Cross Curaçao meant to them and their family. The truth is, Covid was an extremely challenging period, and Red Cross volunteers worked hard to support the community.
Red Cross Curaçao remains grateful; however, the reality is that we have not reached our goal yet. More funds are needed to complete the building, and therefore, Red Cross Curaçao will continue to appeal to the community, companies that have not yet donated, and everyone on the other islands and in the Netherlands to support Red Cross Curaçao.
