WILLEMSTAD - The Malpais landfill will be full in six years. That is the expectation of Minister of Health, Environment and Nature Dorothy Pietersz-Janga.  

New policies of less waste, recycling and reuse are currently being developed to reduce the amount of waste. The introduction of a deposit would also fall under this. Surrounding neighborhoods such as Jandoret are also suffering due to the stench of the Malpais landfill.  

Pietersz-Janga proclaims 2023 as the 'Year of cleaning'. This is remarkable, given that she also gave this title to 2022.
