KTK Tugs positive about future after meeting with Klesch Group

WILLEMSTAD - Two weeks ago the KTK Tugs had an introductory meeting with the new operator of the refinery the Klesch Group to find out what the plans are. Members of the Project Management Organization (PMO) were also present during this meeting. The director of the company is positive about the conversation. “These people appear to be serious about starting the refinery as quickly as possible.”

Several contracts still have to be signed for starting the refinery. The plan is to sign the contracts with the relevant parties as quickly as possible so that the Klesch Group can get started. KTK Tugs representatives says that they expect to be able to operate again on Curaçao as soon as the Klesch Group takes over the operation of the refinery.

In November 2018, a process of voluntary dismissal was announced at KTK Tugs. On the other hand, there was a package of incentives. During a staff meeting last week, KTK staff were informed about the plans of the Klesch Group. The management has also indicated that the company continues to focus on projects abroad. "Because of the opportunities abroad, we stopped the redundancy process because there was enough work available." Currently, 111 people are employed at KTK.
