Kingdom team baseball players through to European Championship quarterfinals

AVIGLIANA - The baseball players of the Dutch Kingdom Team have qualified for the quarter-finals of the European championship. The team defeated the Czech Republic 11-1 in the second game in Avigliana, Italy. With this victory, the Orange squad is already certain of its participation in the quarterfinals.

The Kingdom team previously beat Slovakia 11–0. Outstanding in the match against the Czech Republic was the Aruban Ray-Patrick Didder. The right fielder hit three base hits, including a homerun.

 

Major-League player Shairon Martis started on the mound. He gave up only one run in four innings. While the bullpen held the Czechs to two hits in five shutout innings, the Orange squad went 11-1 at the end of the game, including RBI-singles by Junior Martina and substitute Denzel Richardson.
