WILLEMSTAD – Curaçao-born baseball star Kenley Jansen is making a move from the Boston Red Sox to the Los Angeles Angels, signing a one-year contract with the team.
Veteran Pitcher Enters 16th MLB Season
The 37-year-old pitcher is set to begin his 16th season in Major League Baseball (MLB). Jansen is best known for his 12-year tenure with the Los Angeles Dodgers, where he transitioned from a catcher to a pitcher before making a stop with the Atlanta Braves.
One of Curaçao’s Highest-Paid Athletes
Jansen’s new deal is worth approximately €9.6 million, keeping him among the highest-paid Curaçaoan and Dutch athletes, alongside Virgil van Dijk and Max Verstappen.
Additionally, there is a possibility that Jansen could represent Team Netherlands in the 2025 World Baseball Classic, further solidifying his status as one of the island’s top sports figures.
