WILLEMSTAD - Jean-Julien Rojer has not succeeded in surviving the first round of the Australian Open.

The two-time Grand Slam champion, together with his Romanian partner Horia Tecau, was surprised by Marcelo Arevelo from El Salvador and the American Jamie Cerretani.

It became 7-5 6-7 and 6-3. Since his title at the US Open, Rojer and Tecau have failed to advance beyond the second round at Grand Slam level.
