WILLEMSTAD - The parliament continued its discussion yesterday on the parliamentary investigation into the new hospital in Otrobanda (HNO). The report, which cost 700,000 guilders, provides a wealth of additional information but does not conclude who is politically responsible for the significantly higher costs. According to parliament member Sheldry Osepa from the PNP, some in parliament are disappointed with the investigation as they were hoping for a criminal investigation. He does not expect this to occur.
Osepa questioned whether the parliament has a direct interest in taking legal action and requesting the court to mandate an investigation. Despite this, Osepa stated he will vote in favor of the motion to send the report to the Public Prosecution Service, even though he knows this will not lead to a concrete criminal investigation. According to the parliament chair, there is no basis to approach the Public Prosecution Service with the report's conclusions.
