Informateurs submit their final report

WILLEMSTAD - Informateurs, or pathfinders, Rutsel Martha and Chester Peterson submitted their final report to Governor Lucille George-Wout on Tuesday. The two were instructed by the governor on March 24 to determine whether there is sufficient basis for a new cabinet that can count on a majority in the new parliament.

The two informateurs have been nominated by the parties MFK and PNP, who together have 13 seats in the new parliament that takes office on 11 May. This new coalition aims to be able to take over on that day.

MFK and PNP have already signed a declaration of willingness and an agreement on the allocation of ministerial posts. They are open to more parties joining them but want to complete the government program first.

Chances are that the governor will also appoint Martha and Peterson as formateur to formally form the new government and send the names of the candidate-ministers for the screening process.
