Increase in car theft Mitsubishi

WILLEMSTAD - There has been a huge increase in the number of car thefts in Curaçao in recent weeks. A senior police officer confirmed this. The perpetrators are mainly targeting Mitsubishi cars.

According to the officer, one of the reasons for the increase is the closure of Caribbean Motors, the importer of Mitsubishi on Jan Noorduynweg. Due to the closure, almost no parts of the car brand are available on the local market.

In particular, the declarations relating to the L300 and the Lancer from Mitsubishi are increasing considerably. The theft often takes place at popular entertainment venues and even in yards.

In addition to Mitsubishis, other car brands that are popular for their parts are also stolen, such as Kia. Police say they are on the trail of the culprits. It would be two gangs that are mainly active in Bandariba.
