WILLEMSTAD - The Curacao Restaurant Association/Koninklijke Horeca Nederland Curaçao (CRA/KHN CUR) held an important meeting on Tuesday with various key stakeholders, including the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), the Ministry of Health, Environment, and Nature (GMN), the Fire Department, and the Chinese Business Association (CBA). The meeting was organized to discuss the increased government inspections in the hospitality sector, as reported by the Curaçao branch of the Royal Dutch Hospitality Association.
The hospitality industry's advocacy organization acknowledges the significance of government inspections of food and beverage establishments for the island. However, CRA/KHN CUR and CBA believe that the execution of these inspections can be improved. During the meeting, it was decided to work together on a structured approach that not only complies with regulations but also respects the interests of all parties involved.
Ronny Cornelis, the head of MEO's Multidisciplinary team, was also present during the meeting. Various issues were discussed, including government inspections and checklists, as well as food safety and hygiene training. The approach of the Multidisciplinary team when inspecting hospitality entrepreneurs and its impact on guests in hospitality establishments were also subjects of discussion.
Zeno Circkens, chairman of KHN-CUR, commented on the collaboration: "By working together, we can ensure that inspections are conducted effectively and fairly. It is essential that we all contribute to a safe and healthy environment for both consumers and entrepreneurs."
In recent times, several inspections have led to the temporary closure of hospitality establishments in Curaçao.
