WILLEMSTAD - The HNO inquiry committee, tasked with investigating the construction of the new hospital in Otrobanda, is now directing its attention to the technical aspects of the project. To accomplish this, the committee, established by the Parliament of Curaçao, has prepared written questions for consultancy firm Berenschot and construction company Ballast Nedam, both based abroad. 

The questions have been sent to these organizations via Governor Lucille George-Wout, in accordance with Article 20 of the inquiry regulations. It is important to note that, unlike the witnesses heard during public hearings in Curaçao, the cooperation of parties based abroad is entirely voluntary. 

The focus of the HNO inquiry committee is to clarify why the costs for the construction of the hospital turned out to be significantly higher than originally budgeted. Throughout the investigation, the committee has gained insight into the decisions made and the responsibilities of the parties involved through public and closed hearings. As a result of this progress, no new public hearings will take place. 

The committee plans to hold a press conference next week to provide an update on the current status of the investigation. It is intended that the final report will be presented to the Parliament of Curaçao within four to six weeks.
