Governor Emphasizes Integrity Law as New Pisas III Cabinet Is Sworn In

WILLEMSTAD – Governor Lucille George-Wout yesterday officially sworn in the new Pisas III cabinet, strongly highlighting the importance of the Integrity Act (screening law) for candidate ministers. According to the governor, this legislation is crucial to ensure that ministers serve within a democratic legal framework and remain free from conflicts of interest.

In her speech, Governor George-Wout called the screening law an essential tool for promoting integrity. “This law is not meant to exclude candidates but rather to verify their suitability to hold public office within the standards of our rule of law,” she said. She emphasized that the application of the law is conducted independently and carefully, serving as a vital condition for citizens’ trust in their leaders.

The newly sworn-in Pisas III cabinet is composed entirely of ministers from the Movementu Futuro Kòrsou (MFK) party. In the March elections, the party secured a strong majority with thirteen out of twenty-one seats in the Parliament. The cabinet lineup had been previously announced by formateur Chester Peterson, who confirmed that all proposed candidates successfully passed the required screening.

The government’s policy program for 2025–2029, titled Rumbo pa 2030! Un kompromiso nobo ku pais Kòrsou, has been submitted to the governor and is currently undergoing financial review by the Government Audit Office (SOAB). Prime Minister Gilmar ‘Pik’ Pisas stated that the agenda focuses on economic diversification and reducing Curaçao’s dependence on tourism.
