Government resumes renovation work on fruit market in Punda

WILLEMSTAD - The government will resume maintenance work on the fruit market in Punda today. It will also be fitted with new tiling. Work started in 2019, when the last Venezuelan fruit boats left.

The border with Venezuela was closed by order of President Nicolas Maduro. The tiling had already started earlier, but this was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The last 15 stalls are now next, but the Venezuelan boats are not coming back for the time being.
