Government organizes information sessions about the Covid-19 vaccination course

WILLEMSTAD - The year 2021 will be the year in which the Curaçao government starts a long-term process regarding the Covid 19 vaccination in which information provision, awareness and implementation are central. All this to combat the further spread of the virus.

For this purpose, a working group has been set up to support the process. The first information sessions took place last Friday and Saturday. These sessions were attended by people from the government, the medical sector, and the local press.

The aim of the meetings was to involve people from different parts of society in the process and in this way get ideas in an interactive way what is needed to formulate a good plan of action for the information process.

In a press conference on Tuesday, January 12, the government will give a first picture of what the vaccination process in Curaçao entails. The intention is to provide the population with information about the progress of the process, among other things.

In the Netherlands, the National Institute for Public Health and the Environment (RIVM) reported last December that the European Medicines Agency (EMA) has given a positive advice on the authorization of the first corona vaccine called Comirnaty (the mRNA vaccine developed by Pfizer and BioNTech in the European Union).

Immediately afterwards, the European Commission announced that it would allow the vaccine to enter the European market. The first delivery of the vaccine took place at the end of last year in various European countries. This means that the availability of the vaccine is also getting closer to Curaçao.
