WILLEMSTAD - On November 20, 2024, the Ministry of Economic Development (MEO), in collaboration with the Ministry of the Interior and Kingdom Relations, hosted the highly anticipated Gov2Biz & Biz2Biz event at Chateau Post 5. Held during Global Entrepreneurship Week, the session brought together entrepreneurs, government officials, and industry experts to explore practical ways to reduce business costs and enhance efficiency through digitalization and sustainability.

This innovative initiative, part of the Landspakket program, provided a platform for dynamic discussions, solution-oriented presentations, and valuable networking opportunities aimed at strengthening Curaçao’s business ecosystem.

Event Highlights

Interactive Sessions: The event focused on three critical themes: sustainability, digitalization, and the connection between government and businesses. Participants asked thought-provoking questions, showcasing their engagement and the need for in-depth solutions.

Inspiring Presentations: Experts shared success stories, such as supermarket delivery scooters to reduce logistical costs and solar energy solutions for offices and small businesses to lower operational expenses. These practical examples inspired attendees to adopt sustainable business practices.

Positive Feedback on Tools: Initiatives like the Mi Negoshi coaching program and the MiSalu app received enthusiastic responses. While MiSalu users highlighted its benefits in improving communication with medical professionals, many attendees were surprised by its potential.

Effective Networking: The networking session allowed participants, including civil servants, to connect and exchange ideas, fostering collaboration between various sectors.

Participant Feedback

The consensus was clear: Gov2Biz & Biz2Biz deserves a sequel. Suggestions included organizing more informational sessions, live webinars, podcasts, and talk shows to raise public awareness. Attendees emphasized that this session was not only informative but also essential in bridging the gap between government services and the needs of entrepreneurs.

Promoting a Resilient Business Ecosystem

One of the primary goals of the event was to strengthen Curaçao’s SME ecosystem by connecting service providers and end-users to exchange insights and explore innovative solutions. The event also encouraged the adoption of transformative technologies such as solar panels, hybrid vehicles, and syntropic farming practices, all promoting cost efficiency and sustainability.

Looking Ahead

Building on the success of this event, the Ministry of Economic Development remains committed to organizing more sessions that empower businesses and foster a culture of innovation and sustainability. Whether through live events, podcasts, or digital platforms, MEO aims to equip entrepreneurs with the tools and knowledge needed to thrive.

Stay tuned for future initiatives from MEO that champion innovation, sustainability, and collaboration across Curaçao.
