WILLEMSTAD - Finance Minister Kenneth Gijsbertha is convinced that the gambling industry in Curaçao can grow into an important economic pillar.

Earlier this month Gijsbertha attended a conference about the gambling industry in the English capital London. According to Gijsbertha, it is important that new legislation is introduced for the gambling industry in Curaçao.

The only problem is, according to sources close this sector, the gambling industry has been in the hands of a privileged few. These sources say that they are not sure if Curaçao will benefit from the legalization of this gambling industry. They want to see a study on this topic and what the government will do to give an opportunity to others to also be able to participate in it.
