He spends more money than is available and collects less tax than he claims.
WILLEMSTAD - The PAR faction took note of the General Audit Chamber’s (ARC) analysis of the 2022 budget. The PAR MPs say that ARC simply confirms what they have been warning about for years. During the budget debate for 2023, the PAR faction showed that the budget is unrealistic, considering the unacknowledged expenses and the decreasing revenues from Wage and Income Tax.
The coalition (MFK and PNP) played dumb, attacked PAR, sang praises to their ministers, turned a blind eye to reality, and supported Silvania's management.
Today, ARC confirms what PAR has been saying for years.
Minister Silvania spent 315 million more than Parliament agreed upon for 2022, and he collected 207 million less than he promised. Now it's clear to the community how the Pisas Cabinet financed the purchase of Campo Alegre with public money and with no kind of oversight from Parliament (coalition).
To top it off, this same minister chose to illegally exempt more than 3 billion in tax debts from big banks and millionaire companies.
ARC calls on Parliament to put on its armor and control Minister Silvania. The Parliament's job is not to "sing praises to Ministers," but to critically control them. PAR has been doing this for years, although the coalition is doing its utmost to hinder this, says the PAR MPs.
“After ARC's analysis, PAR started to compile a list of questions for the minister. Let's see if the coalition continues to play games or assumes their responsibility, wakes up from their dream, starts reading documents, and controls their ministers,” says the PAR MPs in a press release.
In the end, it is Parliament's responsibility to the community for the management of the country's budget.
