Fuel, water, and electricity prices drop in Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - Starting December 3, fuel, water, and electricity rates in Curaçao will decrease, according to the regulator RAC. The reduction results from lower production costs for fuel and electricity, combined with favorable corrective measures.

Fuel Prices

Gasoline prices will drop slightly from nearly 2.11 guilders to just over 2.09 guilders per liter, while diesel prices will see a more noticeable decrease of seven cents, bringing the cost to approximately 1.67 guilders per liter.

Electricity Rates

Households will experience a small reduction in electricity costs, with rates falling by just over one cent. For the highest tariff group, the maximum cost per kilowatt-hour (kWh) will now be nearly 70 cents. Consumers using up to 250 kWh will pay almost 55 cents per kWh.

Water Prices

Water prices will also see a decrease. For low consumption (up to nine cubic meters), households will pay just over 8.32 guilders per cubic meter, while higher consumption (more than 20 cubic meters) will cost nearly 17.37 guilders per cubic meter. Businesses and hospitals will also benefit from the reduced rates.

Government's Statement

The government attributes these price reductions to falling international fuel prices and improved production efficiency. The new tariffs for water and electricity will take effect on December 1.

This decrease provides much-needed financial relief for residents and businesses alike, reflecting a positive shift in Curaçao's resource management and economic conditions.
