WILLEMSTAD – On Thursday afternoon, May 8, 2025, formateur Chester Peterson presented an interim report to Her Excellency Lucille George-Wout, Governor of Curaçao, outlining the current progress of the cabinet formation process and the development of a new governing program.
During the meeting, Peterson explained that the institutions responsible for conducting judicial and security background checks on (candidate) ministers—based on the National Ordinance on Ministerial Integrity—have now been formally engaged and are actively carrying out their investigations.
Governor George-Wout emphasized the importance of strict adherence to the integrity ordinance, urging the formateur to ensure that it is applied both in letter and in spirit during the formation of the new government.
The formateur pledged to deliver a follow-up report by May 20, providing further updates on the status of the formation efforts.
