Fifteen Caribbean Recruits Officially Sworn in as Military Personnel

WILLEMSTAD – Fifteen Caribbean recruits have successfully completed their military training and were officially sworn in during a ceremony at Fort Amsterdam on Tuesday. The group consists of six Arubans and nine Curaçaoans who, after seven months of rigorous training, are now ready to take on various roles within the Dutch Defense Forces in the Caribbean.

Intense Final Training Exercise

The training program concluded with a challenging final exercise, or 'Finex,' where recruits performed combat patrols and coordinated attacks in both urban and rural settings. The soldiers were tested on their endurance, having to hold positions for extended periods and move independently, often on foot.

A 25-Kilometer March to the Finish Line

The final day of training featured a 25-kilometer march across Curaçao, accompanied by drummers and pipers from the Marine Corps. Family and friends gathered at the finish line to celebrate the achievements of the newly sworn-in military personnel.

Ready for Service in the Caribbean

The successful candidates will now begin their assignments within defense units stationed in Curaçao and Aruba. Wearing their new military berets, they are fully prepared to serve within the Royal Netherlands Navy in the Caribbean, contributing to regional security and defense operations.
