Emergency law extended for 90 days

WILLEMSTAD - The state of emergency is extended by 90 days. This was announced by outgoing Prime Minister of Curaçao Eugene Rhuggenaath. The new law on exceptional situations allows the Curaçao government to declare a state of emergency.

During the state of emergency, measures such as curfews, traffic checks and fines can be implemented quickly. It remains to be seen whether the extension of the state of emergency will remain in effect. The same law allows two-thirds of parliament to reverse the state of emergency within 48 hours.
