Largest Storytelling and Literature Festival Returns with the Theme ‘Brio’
WILLEMSTAD – Advance ticket sales have begun for the Wintertuin Curaçao Festival. Visitors who purchase their tickets now will pay just 20 guilders, thanks to the early bird rate. The festival is celebrating its seventh edition this year and promises another inspiring experience for all ages.
The children’s program will take place on September 13 at The Curaçao Museum. A week later, on September 20, the adult program will be held in the enchanting garden of Landhuis Vredenberg. This year’s central theme is ‘Brio’, the Papiamentu word for both brilliance and courage. With this, the festival celebrates the power of imagination, the bravery to push boundaries, and the unifying strength of storytelling.
A Festival That Moves and Connects
The previous edition sold out completely and was met with great enthusiasm. Visitors praised the relaxed atmosphere, the surprising lineup, and the warm, inclusive approach. Parents said they would have gladly joined the children’s program themselves, as the range of activities—from creative writing to physical challenges—was so diverse and engaging. Children were free to roam, feeling both safe and welcome. Free tickets were made available for vulnerable families.
Cultural organizations also found great value in participating. One group gained thirteen new regular participants, three of whom have since been attending weekly training sessions free of charge. Many visitors discovered organizations they hadn’t known before, learning just how much Curaçao has to offer culturally. For these cultural providers, the festival was also a chance to boost their visibility. “This is how we collectively build a sustainable cultural infrastructure,” said Rosie Nirvana, executive producer of the Wintertuin Curaçao Festival.
Something for Everyone
The children’s festival on September 13 runs from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and features over twenty new activities, designed specifically for children aged 0 to 15 and their parents. In addition to interactive performances and presentations inside the museum, kids can take part in creative workshops in the garden.
New this year is the screening of cinepoems—short poetic films tailored for young viewers. Of course, healthy and delicious food will be available too. A total of 1,000 tickets are being offered, with 300 free tickets reserved for children and organizations with limited access to cultural events.
Based on previous feedback, the number of food stations has been doubled, and there will now be three drink stands available.

The organization is still looking for enthusiastic volunteers to help guide and support the activities. Interested individuals can sign up via the Wintertuin Curaçao Facebook page.
