Dutch marines train on Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - Soldiers of the Marine Corps train as part of the 'Landingcraftsman' training at various places on Curaçao. Practice is mainly done around the beaches.

The training sessions started on Tuesday and will take place until Wednesday 25 May. The soldiers are part of the 'Surface Assault and Training Group' (SATG), a marine unit stationed on Texel. This unit is specialized in operating on the border between land and water.

The marines mainly practice on the beaches of Curaçao. They train in uniform, diving suit and civilian outfit. For safety and recognizability, a soldier in uniform is always clearly present.

“Because of the good climatic conditions, such as clear visibility under water, Curacao is an excellent training location to be able to train these kinds of skills,” said the Marine Corps.
