WILLEMSTAD – On Sunday, May 18, dozens of motorcyclists will take to the streets of Curaçao in style for the Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, a global event that blends vintage fashion and classic motorcycles with a serious cause: raising awareness and funds for prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and men’s mental health.
Held simultaneously in more than 100 countries and over 800 cities, this will be Curaçao’s fourth year participating in the event. The ride is known for its elegant aesthetic, with participants donning retro-inspired attire while riding classic or vintage motorcycles, drawing attention in a positive and stylish way to crucial men's health issues.
A Ride with a Cause
The ride will start in the afternoon at Mangrove Beach Corendon, where check-in opens at 2:30 PM. At 3:30 PM, an opening speech will set the tone for the day, followed by the group’s departure at 4:00 PM. The route will pass through various neighborhoods and scenic landmarks across the island. The first stop will be at Papagayo Beach Resort, where riders will enjoy refreshments and social time before continuing on to the final destination: Wild Hogs Nest in Punda.
There, participants will be welcomed with drinks and snacks, followed by an engaging health talk by Dr. Yves “Payo” Schoop, who will speak on prostate cancer and men’s health. The evening will close with a Happy Hour and live music by local band Baka Bana.
Prizes and Charity Art Auction
Prizes will be awarded to the best-dressed riders, with weekend getaways at Mangrove Beach Corendon and Papagayo Resort up for grabs for those who embody the event's stylish spirit. In addition, a charity art auction will take place at Wild Hogs, featuring two sculptures—‘Chichi’ and ‘Bubu’—donated by their creator. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to support Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride Curaçao.
The funds raised will be donated to the Movember Foundation, a global organization dedicated to advancing research on prostate and testicular cancer, suicide prevention, and mental health among men. The event aims not only to raise funds but also to promote early detection and encourage open conversations about men's health challenges.
How to Participate or Donate
Motorcyclists with classic or vintage bikes are encouraged to sign up at www.gentlemansride.com. Those without motorcycles who still wish to support the cause can make a donation through the same website. Every contribution—large or small—helps make a difference.
The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride continues to bring style, community, and advocacy together for a cause that affects men worldwide—and on May 18, Curaçao will once again ride with purpose.
