Displeasure regarding the approach of the Financial Supervision College

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao government also has problems with the approach of the Financial Supervision College (Cft). If a budgetary instruction is imposed on Curaçao by the Kingdom Council of Ministers (the Netherlands) at the end of this week, considerable cuts will have to be made.

As a result, the actual gross domestic product for Curaçao will shrink by 3.7 percent for 2019 and shrink by 8.6 percent in 2020. Prime Minister Eugene Rhuggenaath, for example, writes in a letter to the Curaçao Parliament.

Rhuggenaath considers it highly irresponsible if an instruction is imposed to compensate for the shortages of recent years in a short period, as the Financial Supervision Board wants.
