Defense donates station ship mattresses to Curaçao

WILLEMSTAD - Defense has donated 100 mattresses and bed linen to the disaster relief organization of Curaçao. The mattresses and bed linen come from the station ship in the Caribbean, the Zr.Ms. Groningen.

In accordance with internal business operations, the mattresses on board navy ships are changed periodically. A new destination is being sought for the mattresses. They can be used well in Curaçao. The mattresses were picked up on Friday morning.

Zr.Ms. Groningen operates as a station ship in the Caribbean. One of the main duties of the station ship is to support local authorities, including the Caribbean Coast Guard. Together with the army soldiers and CURMIL'ers (Curaçao Militia) they contribute to keeping a grip on the maritime borders, also during the time of the coronavirus.
