WILLEMSTAD - The detention of the four suspects in the Lacerta case has been extended. On Thursday, the four men were brought before the examining magistrate, who ordered that the detention be extended by a maximum of eight days.

The suspects are Roderick van Kwartel, Ashley Isidora, Gilbert Gregory Cijntje and Michèle Mario Kinburn.

The four - all former employees of Refineria di Kòrsou (RdK) - are suspected by the Public Prosecution Service of having charged a large sum of bribes during the refinery negotiation process.

Van Kwartel and Isidora have been behind bars since 24 June. Cijntje and Kinburn since June 27.
