Curaçao Schools Receive Repurposed Tablets to Boost Digital Learning

Local | By Correspondent March 18, 2025

WILLEMSTAD Primary schools in Curaçao have received a major boost in digital education with the distribution of tablets previously used in the national census by the Central Bureau of Statistics. The repurposed devices have been allocated to various schools across the island.

The tablets were presented in a creative and engaging way—delivered in a large wooden crate transformed into a giant gift box. Upon arrival at each school, students were unaware of its contents. Teachers selected a few students to open the box and unveil what was dubbed the “Treasure Chest of Knowledge.”

Safe and Educational Digital Learning

To ensure safe and effective use, all tablets were pre-configured before distribution. Access to adult content has been blocked, and educational software has been installed, including the ‘Magrid program. This interactive platform is specifically designed for young learners and children with special educational needs. It supports language and math development and is particularly beneficial for multilingual students, children from migrant backgrounds, and those with learning disorders such as dyslexia, dyspraxia, and dyscalculia.

While configuring the tablets caused a slight delay in their distribution, the process ensures that students can fully benefit from the technology. The rollout of tablets will continue in the coming days, reaching more schools across the island.
