WILLEMSTAD - Government companies Refineria di Kòrsou (Curaçao Refinery) and Curoil are working together to prepare an emergency plan in view of the deteriorating situation at the ISLA / PdVSA refinery. This became public after a letter from the Curaçao government to the Financial Supervision College was leaked.

The purpose of the emergency plan is to safeguard the installation in the event of unrest by the possible absence of payment of salaries to the staff of Refineria Isla Curaçao. In addition, the aim is to safeguard the local fuel supply. The government writes in its letter that the Isla is unable to meet its payment obligations.
