Curaçao Parliament Delegation Participates in Interparliamentary Meetings, IPKO

WILLEMSTAD - The Curaçao Parliament delegation is participating in the Interparliamentary Meetings, IPKO, taking place from June 1st to 5th, 2023, in The Hague, Netherlands. 

 

During IPKO, delegations from the Parliaments of Curaçao, the Netherlands, Aruba, and Sint Maarten come together to exchange information and viewpoints on various topics concerning the different countries within the Kingdom. 

 

For each IPKO, a program is determined with advanced topics to be discussed during the meetings. The following topics will be addressed during the upcoming IPKO: 

 

Data security 

Slavery and colonialism history 

Climate and sustainable energy 

Education: issues faced by Caribbean students 

Kingdom conference 

 

In addition to the exchanges on the mentioned topics, the delegations are planning a working visit related to one of the themes. Some of the topics to be discussed are based on the agreements reached during the previous IPKO, which the Curaçao Parliament organized from February 28th to March 3rd, 2023, in Curaçao. 

 

While in The Hague, the Curaçao delegation will have a working visit to The Hague University of Applied Sciences prior to the IPKO, on May 30th, 2023. During the visit, the delegation will interact with Curaçaoan students pursuing their studies at this advanced institution. 

 

On May 31st, 2023, the delegations from Curaçao, Aruba, and Sint Maarten will convene as is customary in the so-called Tripartite, where they will discuss topics relevant to these islands only and make certain preparations for the IPKO. 

 

As always, at the conclusion of this IPKO, a List of Agreements will also be presented, on which all delegations will reach consensus. 

 

The Curaçao delegation consists of the following members: 

 

Mrs. Charetti America-Francisca, who is the President of Parliament and also the leader of the delegation. 

Mr. Amerigo Thode, who is the President of the Kingdom Affairs, Interparliamentary Relations, and External Relations Commission and a member of Parliament for the MFK faction. 

Mr. Sheldry Osepa, a member of Parliament for the PNP faction. 

Mr. Quincy Girigorie, a member of Parliament for the PAR faction. 

Mrs. Giselle Mc William, a member of Parliament for the MAN faction. 

Mr. Rennox Calmes, a member of Parliament for the Trabou pa Kòrsou faction. 

Mr. Michelango Martines, a member of Parliament for the KEM faction.
