WILLEMSTAD - The government of Curacao has to find an additional 6 million guilders to balance the Public Health budget. This is according to the Advisory Council (RvA) in a letter to the Minister of Public Health Suzanne Camelia-Romer.
The RvA looked at the bill to adjust the healthcare contracts. After protest, the government eliminated the part about the maximum age for doctors. But did not come up with additional measures to compensate for that amount.
A total of 70 million must be cut to keep the new hospital open. It has an operating shortfall of 59 million guilders.
