Curaçao must implement UN asylum legislation

WILLEMSTAD - Curaçao must introduce asylum legislation. That is the opinion of the Human Rights Committee of the United Nations (UNHCR). The Kingdom Government in the Netherlands must oversee this.

Current procedures are not in line with international human rights and refugee laws.

The government of the Netherlands has two years to respond to this recommendation. The UN is concerned about the return of Venezuelans and the poor detention conditions in the SDKK prison in Curaçao.
