Curaçao Marines Complete Joint Training with U.S. Forces in North Carolina

WILLEMSTAD - Marines from the Caribbean Defense Force recently completed an intensive three-week training with their American counterparts from the II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejeune in North Carolina. The joint exercise, named Caribbean Urban Warrior, focused on military operations in urban terrain (MOUT), according to a press release from the Caribbean Defense Force.

During the training, various specialized units, including signalers, snipers, infantry engineers, and military medics, worked alongside U.S. Marines from the 2d Marine Division.

The marines practiced in realistic training villages and participated in amphibious assaults, as well as section- and troop-level operations.

The Caribbean Defense Force emphasized that these exercises ensure the marines remain prepared for their tasks and contribute to the safety of the Caribbean part of the Kingdom.

"The annual bilateral exercise contributes to strengthening military cooperation between the Netherlands and the United States. Camp Lejeune provides unique training opportunities that elevate the preparation level compared to training in the Caribbean," stated the Caribbean Defense Force.
