Curaçao is again part of the largest volunteer campaign in the world during the "World Clean Up Day."

WILLEMSTAD - Together with more than 150 other countries, Curaçao will participate in the second edition of the "World Clean Up Day" on Saturday 21 September. The aim is to clean up as much waste as possible worldwide on that day and to draw attention to the pollution problem. More than 2,000 people have now registered to roll up their sleeves that morning to make the island cleaner and more beautiful.

Last Saturday, coordinators from different organizations met in a well-filled auditorium for a final briefing. In total more than 60 locations on Curaçao will be cleaned this year. That is a record.

Also, this year the initiative is supported by the ministries of labor and public health. There are also many companies that support this initiative with manpower, materials and financial resources.

In the last week before the cleaning campaign, the organization is still looking for additional heavy equipment. Companies that have trucks, loaders, bobcats and containers, for example, are kindly requested to report to the World Clean Up Day organization.

Registrations

The registration period has meanwhile been closed, so that the organization can focus on the logistics around the groups that have registered and the locations that are being cleaned on Saturday. Lisandra Martis, spokesperson for the Curacao Clean Up Foundation explains: “If you still want to participate and you have not yet registered, let the organization know so that it can investigate which initiative you can still join.
